Now that 2020 is done, I thought I would do a quick recap of my year. As with everyone, the challenges were unique this year beyond expectations. From the restrictions of lockdowns, to the changes in social interaction imposed by new rules such as social distancing and the wearing of masks, it was a very strange time for everyone.
Despite all of this, I managed to finished the remodeling of two houses this year. Mostly solo, but with the help of a few contractors, I retained the first as a rental home, and the second I re-sold as an investment home. I had originally planned to retain the second one as a rental as well, but the times we are in changed my plans and I decided to sell it in October.
I also acquired a new rehab home project in September, and will be working on that until it is completed in April. As a Realtor, my work was up and down through most of the year, so having a project home to go work at when all else was non-functional was a great escape from the monotony of the times.
In November I decided to revisit one of my passions, which was video creation. It was something that I abandoned many years ago, and had not posted much on my channel in almost a decade. I took some online skill classes, and rekindled my love for this creative endeavor. The result was that I rebranded my channel with a new design, and message ‘The Shine Bright Project’ which has a purpose to show the good in the community in which I live. As of January 1st, I had brought my channel back from dormancy and reached 100 subscribers for the first time.
I am very excited about this new project, and integrating this creativity into my life in 2021. I know there is a lot of uncertainty in the future for country with all of the changes in our lives that seem to be constantly forthcoming from the government, so focusing on the good in the world around me and moving forward on my next project house, and my other work, is how I keep some balance. As part of my new channel subject matter, I am spending a lot of time outdoors, which is also very spiritually beneficial.
There were many other ups and downs of 2020, including the loss of a few friends to means other than COVID, and not being able to attend funerals. Any and all travel plans I had for the year were cancelled. Also the day to day challenges of life that we all endured, I am as with many, ready to bring closure to 2020.
Onward 2021!
