On March 16th, 2026, I learned that my book ‘Murder in Victorian Western Michigan’ was selected as the winner of the Great Midwest Book Festival in the History category. This is an annual regional book contest where they review books submitted in the competition from all over the Midwest region. Books are reviewed in several categories from general non-fiction, general fiction, children’s books, self-help, memoirs, young adult and history. There is even a separate category for ‘wild-card’ which can be selected from other genres.
The book ‘Murder in Victorian Western Michigan’ which was released in July 2025 features twelve different true crime stories from twelve different cities and townships in Western Michigan in the 1800’s. All of these stories took place, and many made national news in their day.
Set in Michigan’s emerging western frontier, these heinous, and often bloody crimes shocked the population of the growing new state in the nineteenth century. Woven into the stories are historical details of the era and their locations, to set the reader into the period, and enlighten them on day to day life of those who lived during that time as well.
As an author, I have already sold and signed over 1000 copies since the books release. If you would like to get a copy, visit my calendar on this site to see where I will be selling my books this year. One can also order directly through this website using the Bookstore link above, and I will ship you a signed copy.
Thank you to all of the readers who have taken time to give me feedback on my books! I greatly appreciate the kind words of support and encouragement!
