New Book: Murder in Victorian Western Michigan coming July 8th!

My new book title is ‘Murder in Victorian Western Michigan‘ and it will be officially released from the History Press on July 8, 2025. This is a new collection of stories from around western Michigan that took place between 1853 – 1899.

Keeping with the Victorian period in this new collection of twelve stories, I have included a plot map in this article showing the locations of where each of these events took place in Michigan. In this collection you will find stories in Berrien County, Calhoun County, Manistee County, Kalamazoo County, Charlevoix County, St. Joseph County, Kent County, Eaton County, Van Buren County and Ingham County.

The true crime events range from murder to mystery, and the methods are as divserse and sometimes bizarre as in my earlier book Victorian Southwest Michigan True Crime.

The stories in this collection are longer in format that my earlier book, with even more detail. The project for this one began for some of these stories even before my last book, with the research being conducted over the past two years. This particular collection involved several trips to the Michigan Archives, and visiting may locations around the region.

As of this article, the book is not officially on the History Press website, but you can pre-order a copy from the store on my website here, and I will ship you a signed copy when it is released in July. The official release date is July 8th, 2025. I hope to have copies in the week before that date, so the advantage of pre-ordering can ensure you receive a copy before anyone else does.
